Stuffed Animals In Nooses: Bias Incident Against Congressional Candidate Probed In South Jersey

Authorities are investigating a bias incident that took place in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township.

On the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 8, Middle Township Police Department was notified of stuffed animals hanging in rope nooses above a political sign for Tim Alexander, a black candidate for Congress. 

Alexander, a Democrat, lost to Rep. Jeff Van Drew, the Republican incumbent.

A subsequent investigation by the Middle Township Police Department and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office revealed video footage of a white female with blond hair exiting a late model dark colored sedan, that appeared to be a Buick, and hanging these stuffed animals from a tree. according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland

Sutherland and MIddle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner are asking the public for assistance in identifying the sedan and the female driver.

The late model four-passenger sedan with chrome trim and tinted windows was seen parked in the area where the incident occurred.
